Personal Insolvency Agreements (PIA)

A Personal Insolvency Agreement (Part X) is a legally binding agreement between you and your creditors to avoid bankruptcy which is often a better outcome both for you and your creditors.

Whilst each circumstance and Personal Insolvency Agreement is different, it is common for a Personal Insolvency Agreement to allow you to continue to hold any property you may own and also retain any income you may earn whilst you adhere to the terms of your Personal Insolvency Agreement.

A Personal Insolvency Agreement involves the appointment of registered trustee to take control of your property, investigate your affairs and put forward an offer to your creditors. Your offer will usually be a lump sum payment or payments via instalments.

Following the completion of your Personal Insolvency Agreement, you are released from most of your debts.

Whilst thousands of Australians go bankrupt each year, there are less than 250 Personal Insolvency Agreements that are put forward to creditors on average each calendar year. At Romanis Cant, we have conducted over 100 Personal Insolvency Agreements  with a success rate of over 95%.
